Intern at Portland Children's Museum!The Portland Children's Museum offers internships for both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as high school students. An internship at Portland Children's Museum is a dynamic and exciting way to develop skills and gain work experience in an innovative museum environment. Many of the Museum's interns receive credit from their college or university; the Museum encourages interns to explore this option and will assist the intern in getting credit whenever possible. Contact your school to inquire about their policies.
Guidelines for College and Graduate Level Internships:
Guidelines for High School Internships:High School interns are required to commit to six hours weekly for six months. During the summer season, a commitment of at least twelve hours weekly for three months is required. However, needs may vary by department. Internships are available on an ongoing basis and can coincide with the applicant's school schedule. Weekend shifts are possible in most cases.
Applying:Children's Museum High School Intern Program is competitive. The most successful interns are interested in working with and for children, have good interpersonal skills and can articulate their goals. Enthusiasm and reliability is important. Prospective interns should direct their resumes with a letter of interest to the Volunteer Coordinator at the contact information below. Prospective interns should email their resume and a letter of interest regarding a specific internship opportunity to lyasuda@portlandcm.org. The applicant will be contacted if he/she is eligible and if a position is currently available. |
