Local musician and West Virginia native Johnny Keener performs an acoustic guitar sing-along of family favorites with lots of audience participation. His new children’s music CD, called Long John, is available for purchase at the Museum store.

Watch as our fabulous clay studio artists change the shape of clay with their hands at the Potter's Wheel. Take a turn and slip you fingers into the moving clay as you throw your own small cup or bowl.

Spend some time with our studio team in Wonder Corner, learning ways to expand art experiences for your children at home.

Paint and Play Toddler Series - 10:15am-11:00am
Ages 2-4

The rich sensory experience will introduce your toddler to a variety of painting techniques. Discover color, shape and texture while using vibrant liquid watercolors, tempera ice cubes, neon color sprinkles and more!

Fee: $18 per four-week session.

Gifts of Giving

Thanks to the Target Corporation, Friday nights are free at the Portland Children's Museum from 5:00-8:00pm. Bring a gift of can food for the Oregon Food bank and create a garland of gratitude and a pinecone turkey.

Once upon a time... children and parents came to the Museum wearing their "fairy" best! Search for hidden fairy homes and dragon caves in the Museum and create your own to take home. Decorate your own crown to wear and make dragons in clay. Then, meet some of your favorite storybook characters and magic fairies.

Saturday & Sunday: Oregon Shadow Theater enchants with brightly colored, musical performances of Thumbelina at 1 & 3 pm. Doors open at 12:50 & 2:50 pm. Recommended for ages 4 and up. No admittance to the theater after the first 10 minutes.

Monday & Tuesday: Join us for fairy face painting and visits from our fairy friends.

Our own naturalist Dave will be on hand Saturday, November 29, and December 13 to help make amazing holiday nature crafts.
